Bromley manager Mark Goldberg hopes Monday’s 3-2 win over Bishop’s Stortford will stand his team in good stead ahead of the play-offs.

The Ravens fought back from 2-0 down to emerge victorious at Hayes Lane and cement a third-place finish in the Conference South table.

Michael Richens put the visitors ahead on 43 minutes with a free-kick before the lead was doubled three minutes after half time when Johnny Herd finished off a flowing move.

Bromley then sparked into life and Jay May reduced the deficit when he capitalised on a loose ball three minutes before the hour.

The equaliser came ten minutes from time as Bradley Goldberg converted from close range before Danny Waldren sealed three points by connecting well with a looping cross which dipped narrowly under the bar and into the net.

And the manager believes hard work off the pitch recently has helped turn fortunes around: He said: “We were addressing certain things.

“We kept saying we’d been playing well but not getting the results and then we decided to look deeper into the issue.

“We had a team meeting we addressed a few areas.”

Goldberg added: “I was still disappointed we went 2-0 down the way we did.

“What we have shown is spirit, belief and togetherness in the camp to get ourselves back into the game and keep believing and creating chances.

“We’ve got to be very pleased we got ourselves back into the game.”

Despite leading the way for most of the campaign, a third-place finish still represents a good season for Bromley considering they just stayed up 12 months ago.

Goldberg said: “All in all we’re proud of the achievement, now we’re in the play-offs we’re going to try and get promoted, we will prepare the best we can and the belief is there that on our day we can beat any team.”

“But it’s a cup like competition where you do have to have a certain amount of luck on your side as well, but we’ll make sure that when we go into our summer break that we feel we planned as well as we could have.”

“I’m pleased with where we are and what we’ve achieved, now we’re there there’s a job to done.”

Goldberg and his team travel to in-form Gosport Borough on Saturday, the hosts having recently lost at Wembley to Cambridge in the FA Trophy final.

The Bromley manager says preparation is already underway for the play-offs and sees this weekend’s game as a chance to give an opportunity to some fringe members of his squad to impress.

He said: “We’ll set out again in preparation this Saturday and make sure what we’ve learnt in recent games we put into practice.

“But at the same time we have certain players we must make sure we either rest, or give them more game time”

“It’s not just about individuals, it’s about the whole squad and everyone understanding the way we want to set out for our play-off games.”
