Fans asked to support campaign with Watford versus Ipswich Town close to a sell-out

Watford have again highlighted their 'Say No To No-Shows' campaign with Saturday's home match against Ipswich Town expected to be a sell-out.

It appears the Hornets will buzz to Vicarage Road in their droves this Easter weekend with the Championship season nearing its climax.

Only restricted view seats remain for Saturday's contest as the Hornets make a final push for the top six.

‘Say No To No-Shows’ was set up by the club this season and the Watford Observer was happy to support the campaign.

The aim is try to encourage season ticket holders who cannot make home games to contact the ticket office so their seats can be resold, with the proceeds going to charity.

The club say roughly 20 per cent of Hornets season ticket holders fail to attend each home fixture.

Anyone unable to attend Saturday’s game should e-mail ticket.office@watfordfc.com with their name, Fan ID and seat details and the benefits will be split between Peace Hospice Care and Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust.

Watford sit seven points behind Ipswich, Brighton & Hove Albion and Reading, who currently occupy the final play-off place, with five matches left to play and a game in hand. Two victories against Ipswich and QPR on Monday would give the Golden Boys an outside chance of still breaking into the play-offs.

FROM Next season once you have missed 2 games, your season ticket should be deactivated,The season ticket should go for re sale with no refund to season ticket holder...if u can't go,find a fan who can go...this has cost Watford at least 10 points this season with loads of empty seats and no atmosphere in vicarage road end.

Take that stupid Family stand sign down.

Stop family's getting cheap kids tickets and not use them.

Move family stand to bottom of rouse stand.

A good atmosphere like Millwall away is what is now needed.

You do not want to alienate your loyal support in good times when you might need them desperately in the bad. A campaign of this nature is folly. The Observer is I'll-advised to promote it.

Surprised you use loyal support in the same context as not attending...surely a contradiction?? SJM msy be a little OTT but has a point. ...I personally know of 5 season tickets in the family stand that have barely been used all season...These tickets have not once been recyvled and the hundreds of empty seats in a sold out stand is something that needs to be addressed. ..

Look at the number of empty seats in the Family Stand on Saturday. Most people won't give their tickets away to a stranger, even for a good cause, life's not like that.

I don't like to see empty seats in a sold out stand either, but I don't understand how that has cost us 10 points? Players don't go to make a pass, look up at the stands, see a few empty seats and knock it an opposition player in dismay.
Burnley is always half empty behind both goals, doesn't seem to have traumatised their players too much

I think the club should offer 10% off the next seasons season ticket is they have offered tickets for games they can't make under this campaign 5 times or more.

If they really want people to make use of it, there needs to be an incentive otherwise people will just forget/not bother to offer them up for resale

I don't see your argument Hornankey, the club are not forcing anyone to let them re-sale your seat if you are not going and they are giving the re sale money to charity..

Why is it 'folly'?

Seems a good scheme all round to me, if the club were keeping the money of the re sale I would see your argument but they are not.

It's another good initiative by the club. But yes, I do think family stand tickets need to be scrutinized more. There's a bit of a problem when kid's seats cost 50p, most likely purchased in the hope of an extra fan ID if we get to Wembley again. Would suggest the club don't force any issues but if someone has a less than 25% attendance rate (not including midweek games) questions need to be asked.

It's rare that there's unused tickets in the Rookery.

Not really sure what the issue is here apart from a way to raise money for charity. Firstly how many games are considered sold out per season on current attendance and reduced seating due to redevelopment, I think you can safetly count on 1 hand the amount so is this really a big issue, next season with the East stand open the amount of vacant none season ticket seats will triple also, now if the issue is to try and boost attendance then there are many schemes to put in place, perhaps we should look at loyalty awards and also if there are season ticket holders who do not attend 25% of games then they should be forced to confirm attendance or sell their seats for matches they don't confirm, the problem is they have paid for that seat and also contributed to the clubs financial forecast and we don't want to get too strict on limiting season tickets.

I think you will find that there is a restriction on the number of tickets allowed to be sold in the Vicarage Road end due to the lack of facilities, toilets etc…this is as a result of a number of complaints from those lovely Liverpool fans in the 1996 season..who could not find the toilets so urinated down the terraces.

ClubCash for attendance.[/p]
What a bunch of mugs you lot are. If you pay for a ticket and don't attend you are still supporting the club financially. Probably loads of people bought STs and then realised they would havce to associate with imbeciles like you and baulked. Who can blame them?[/p]
If we all applied your logic PC than we'd all stop reading the WO website to avoid fk wits like you. ..[/p]
Yea but he had a whole dedicated to him when he called Matthew Messiano a 'toilet head'.. So he is now infamous[/p]
If it looks like a toilethead and it smells like a toilet head, it's probably a toilet head...... CaptainPC

Wow, you really are an idiot.
I'll second that - what a plonker!

The scheme is a good one but not practical for all situations. On Saturday my son may not make the game as he is traveling back from Cardiff. We have not offered his seat as there is an outside chance he could make it.
