The East London Runners club had 32 runners participating in this year’s London Marathon, four of whom managed to come inside the top 1,000.

The 34th instalment of the annual event featured just short of 31,000 runners, demonstrating quite how impressive their times were.

Euan Brown, making his London Marathon debut, clocked in at 2.44.00 to finish 325th overall.

Ciaran Canavan came in next at 2.48.11 to finish 485th, followed by Patrick Brown’s 2.51.00 and Menjit Bedi’s 2.53.25, finishing them 625th and 743rd respectively.

Olympic gold-medallist Mo Farah may have been running his very first London Marathon, but that wasn’t the case for several members of the ELR. Jim Bird impressively completed the 26 miles for the 29th time, clocking in at 8.15.30. Michael Wilson managed his 17th run in 3.50.20.

There were personal bests for Mark Boulton whose time of 2.57.53 was very close to being in the top 1,000. Ava Lee, Peter Hatley, Sheila Kennedy, Sarah Burns and Steven Bywater also managed to record personal bests.
