Watford beat Fulham 4-0 at Vicarage Road to confirm both their survival in the second tier and their visitors' relegation.
Having been promoted in the two previous seasons, Watford were at one point in pre-season odds of 7/1 to go up for a third time, but an injury sustained by Ross Jenkins early in the campaign contributed to a lack of goals - only 39 were scored in 42 matches, eight of them in the last two home games.
Malcolm Poskett, Steve Sims, John Ward and an Ian Bolton penalty secured this victory.
