More than 3,000 Watford fans renewed their season tickets during the first week of the Early Bird window.

The two-week period where current holders can renew their season tickets at the cheapest price started on Saturday.

It covers three home matches and will close after the Ipswich Town game on Saturday, April 19 once all applications have been dealt with.

Watford’s head of supporter communication and sales, Richard Walker, said: “We have had just over 3,000 renewals in a week so we are pleased with the initial uptake from current season-ticket holders.

“We are expecting an extremely busy week at the ticket office and on behalf of the club, I would like to remind all the 12,000 season-ticket holders that Saturday, April 19 is the last day to get the best price possible.”

Hornets season-ticket holders who apply before the end of the club’s Early Bird deadline will pay an increase of three per cent on average.

The prices for new applicants and those who do not renew before April 19 will be released by the club the following day. They are expected to be announced towards the end of the window.

After the Early Bird deadline, tickets will go to a single price whereas in previous years there has been a second renewal price and different sums for new applicants during the Early Bird window.

The club have advised Hornets fans hoping to move to the new East Stand to renew in their current seat first and there will be further communication about the movement window towards the end of the season.
