Rowe responds to being thrown in at the deep end

This Is Local London: Danny Rowe Danny Rowe

DANNY Rowe was thrown in at the deep end after making his Wanderers debut without having had time to learn all his new team mates' names.

Just ten minutes of the loan window were left last Thursday when the 18-year-old Rotherham United defender confirmed his move to Adams Park until the end of the season.

He was pitched straight into the action, starting Saturday's game at Scunthorpe United despite only having met the rest of the Wanderers squad a matter of hours before.

But if he was feeling nervous he didn't show it, as a calm and composed display kept League Two's 21-goal top scorer Sam Winnall quiet.

Rowe said: "It was quite hard, I wasn't quite sure of all the names. They all supported me in the game and helped me through it.

"The game on Saturday was very good. It was a good day for all of us - we all worked hard on the day and got our rewards in the end."

The youngster had been on loan at Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic but Rotherham recalled him on Thursday before immediately sending him back out to Wanderers.

He said: "After training at Rotherham our assistant manager rang me up and said, 'We've got a loan move for you at Wycombe'. I went over to the stadium and signed as quickly as I could because the deadline was going to finish. It was really late and it went through quite quickly.

"I came down Thursday night and trained with the team Friday. It's been going well. All the lads have welcomed me to the club and I've enjoyed training.

"I'm trying to get as many games as I can and learn from league football. I haven't had many games under my belt so it will be beneficial to me in the long run. It's a good move for me."

Rowe added: "I'm quite laid back - maybe too laid back sometimes. I try to pass the ball out from the back - I used to be a midfielder three or four years ago so I've got good technical ability."
