STEVEN Craig said manager Gareth Ainsworth deserved the plaudits as his tactical plan enabled Wanderers to get a coupon-busting point at Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Most people had the game down as a home win with Scunny on the back of a 23 match unbeaten run and Ainsworth even admitted before kick off he'd probably settle for a share of the spoils.

Rather than worrying about how they could stop the Iron, Ainsworth and his backroom staff came up with a plan to swamp the United midfield to stifle the number of chances the high fliers would creat.

It worked to a tee and striker Craig was full of praise for his manager after the game.

The Scotsman said: "It was massive. Gaz has got the hard bit, telling us what to do.

"The bank of five in the middle of the park, they worked so hard. The two young boys at centre half were excellent - what a debut for Danny [Rowe], I'm delighted for him.

"It shows us what we can do when we put our minds to it. I think the performance today from the boys was second to none.

"The last two or three weeks has been hard picking up no points - probably a slight injustice in some games. This happens when you're down scrapping for your lives.

"Gaz and Dobbo [assistant manager Richard Dobson] have done everything they can for us, as does Barry Richardson the goalie coach. They set us up with a game plan and it worked a treat.

"We probably should have taken all three points because we had the best two or three chances of the game.

"Scunthorpe are an excellent team, they'll probably go up automatically. We probably didn't dominate possession but we had the best two or three chances of the game. I don't think anybody could have argued if we'd gone away with the three points."
