After Samba Diakite was booed by Watford fans during the 3-3 draw with Blackburn Rovers, Hornets head coach Beppe Sannino said supporters pay for the right to voice their opinions at matches but wanted fans to show the same “fairness” he received.

The Mali international replaced Alexander Merkel in 75th minute of yesterday’s draw and received a less than warm welcome from certain members of the Hornets faithful.

Sannino acknowledged that he had heard “something” when Diakite was brought on and explained: “I would like to say something to our fans.

"Our crowd was always polite and showed me fairness in games and I don’t want to be misunderstood because people who pay their money have the right to be upset with something which happened on the pitch.

“What I would like to see always, like they did in the past and tonight, is our supporters pushing us and the club in the same way until the end of the season.”
