Gary Bowyer confirmed Blackburn Rovers' players went into the game last night expecting Watford to struggle with the aerial threat of Rudy Gestede.

Rovers were very direct at Vicarage Road and the tactic paid off as the Hornets' defence struggled to cope during the 3-3 draw.

Blackburn manager Bowyer said: "We felt with the big man (Rudy Gestede) and how he is that if we got the ball in the box then we would have a great opportunity to score a goal and fortunately for us right at the death it proved right. Any ball that went into the box caused them problems tonight."

You can hear Bowyer's press conference above and read more of his comments here.

Bowyer is absolutely right. We have to get the physicality of the Championship right. Although Almunia is a great shot stopper he always opted to punchlast night and never commands the six yard box. This allows the ball to be recycled. Defence poor last night but game still enjoyable. Hope Sannino gets the right 3 - 4 players in the summer with a tough training regime. Still very positive with Pozzos and developments on and off pitch. Lets just enjoy the run in! Luv the Horns.

Yep, Manuel gota bit of a battering last night and two goals came from poor "punches". But it was an entertaining game and agree we need to get right summer signings. We also need to get them early and START pre-season with a settled squad that is going to see us through the season (with maybe one or two additions if needed in January).

we have struggled against the route one teams all season and Blackburn are certainly one of them (along with Forest). Last season we starved teams of the ball so much that mostly we minimised the number of times they go deadball opportunities. The current team cannot/do not play that way any more and subsequently we are vulnerable.

I suffered at the game last night, from bloody neck ache. Hooooooof! But in all seriousness we couldn't deal with it, Manny needs to catch the ball
