JO Kuffour said it's about results not performances for Wanderers now - but said it's crucial for the team to start matches on the front foot.

With the end of the season fast approaching and Blues still embroiled in a fight against relegation, Kuffour said he'll take wins any which way they come.

The experienced striker said Wanderers had been punished for making slow starts in recent defeats by Plymouth Argyle and York City and called for his team mates to begin matches in a more positive manner - starting against Rochdale at Adams Park on Saturday.

He said: "This time of the season where we are, we need to get results. I don't know how we've got ourselves in this position but we are in it. The only thing we can do is dig ourselves out.

"I think we've got the character to do it as well.

"If you start slowly in this league you get punished. The first goal's vital.

"Anyone can beat anyone in this league but we've got to start well again on the front foot and get at them. It's key who gets the first goal in this league - hopefully that will be us on Saturday."

Rochdale did Blues a favour on Tuesday by beating the side in the most immediate danger of going down, Northampton Town, to give Wanderers a bit of breathing space at the foot of the League Two table.

That result took Dale to the top of the league as they won their 20th game of the season.

Their last meeting with Wanderers proved Kuffour's point about making a strong start as three goals in a blitz of an opening quarter of an hour paved the way for a 3-2 victory despite a Blues fightback.

Kuffour said: "They are probably the best team we've played, when we played them away from home. It will be another tough game. We've got to be positive."
