SAM Togwell's late dismissal at York on Saturday was a poor decision, Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth claimed.

The on-loan Chesterfield midfielder was given his marching orders by referee Steven Rushton with time almost up at Bootham Crescent, as he committed a second bookable offence.

But Ainsworth said: "The sending off was quite a poor one from the referee if I'm honest. I didn't think it warranted a yellow card. He's pulled out of the tackle at the end.

"With ten seconds to go, losing 2-0 away from home, it compounded the misery for us."

The 29-year-old from Bourne End went straight into the Wanderers midfield on Saturday, having completed his signing the previous day, but is now banned for tonight's trip to Cheltenham after picking up Blues' ninth red card of the season.

Ainsworth said of his debut performance: "I thought he did OK. He held his own. He and Blooms [Matt Bloomfield] were steady - didn't get a great deal of ball first half. They were up against it."
