Good Friday saw two sides destined for the promotion play-offs fail to impress as Crystal Palace visited Vicarage Road.
An undistinguished display from the Eagles was nonetheless sufficient to dismiss the home side who, according to the Watford Observer, "performed with the witlessness of men who have never crossed the halfway line before".
The only goal of the game was set up by Ian Wright's back-heel into the path of scorer Phil Barber.
