Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade admits it will be tough for the O's to win automatic promotion from League 1 after losing 1-0 at home to rivals Brentford but insists his side have not given up their hopes of finishing in the top two.

The ten man Bees clinched a crucial victory at a sold out Brisbane Road this afternoon which has leapfrogged them over Orient into second place with two games in hand.

Slade said: "It's going to be tough. It's a disappointed changing room but they are a good group and I trust them and believe in them. I'm sure that when we've reflected on this we will go out and fight for as many points as we can."

Slade added: "My message to the fans is the same we will send to the players and that is to keep going. We have to keep that attitude, focus and relentlessness that we've shown all season. It's not over yet. This might not be our stop."

Orient played most of the second half with an extra man after James Tarkowski was sent off for a second booking. But the hosts struggled to break Brentford down and found opportunities hard to come by.

Slade said: "I thought we tried to get the ball from back to front a little bit too quickly rather than working the ball through the midfield.

"I thought we could have done that better which made the game long and made the pitch nice and big for them when they cleared the ball, enabling them to get out and get the ball forward. There were things that could have been a little bit better against ten men."
