BLUES boss Gareth Ainsworth has warned his men they will need to match in-form York City’s work rate if they’re to bounce back from their disappointing midweek defeat by Plymouth.

Wanderers head north having seen their six match unbeaten run brought to an end with a 1-0 loss at Adams Park on Tuesday night.

Ainsworth said it’s vital his side get back to winning ways as soon as they can – but Blues face a tall order as they go to the form team in League Two tomorrow.

The Minstermen have stormed up the table after picking up 17 points from the 21 available in their last seven matches to get within sniffing distance of the play off places.

Ainsworth said hard work has been the backbone to that recent success and Wanderers will need to match that if they’re to have any joy at Bootham Crescent.

He said: "They are a very hard working side. Nigel Worthington has been right at the top of management and gone through the leagues - I expect he will have a great work ethic on his team.

"They have been playing 4-4-2 and are a workmanlike side and very hard working. It's something I pride myself on and I always did as a player.

"We need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible. I know we've only had one out of seven but that can soon turn into two or three, and I don't want that. It's about bouncing back now.”

But he added: "York have hit form. They seem to be beating a lot of the lower teams, which is something we have to have a look at. I'm sure whatever XI I put out will know the enormity of each game now.”

Wanderers are then on the road again on Tuesday night as they play their rearranged fixture at Cheltenham Town.
