Steve Harrison's Watford side travelled to Plough Lane to face Wimbledon in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
Malcolm Allen's last goal for the Hornets provided a half-time lead and the dismissal of Dons centre-back Brian Gayle saw the visitors apparently in control of the game.
Substitute Eric Young equalised for the Dons early in the second half however, and a controversial second from John Fashanu sealed the victory for the eventual cup winners.
