PARIS Cowan-Hall said he'd be claiming Wanderers' equalising goal at Southend after finally being given the chance to show off his shooting prowess to fans.

There was more than a hint of good fortune about the goal as Cowan-Hall let rip from distance and saw his shot enter the net via the crossbar and the back of diving Shrimpers goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

It's gone down as an own goal by Bentley, denying Cowan-Hall the chance to draw level with Dean Morgan and Matt McClure at the top of the goalscoring charts with six apiece.

But having previously netted with five headers, the attacker was pleased he'd been given the chance to show what he could do with his feet.

The 23-year-old said: "Of course I'm claiming that - you can't strike one from 35 yards and not claim it.

"Last season I headed one and the rest were with my feet. It's good to score with my feet but it's good to score at any time. It was a goal from quite far out - it was nice to score like that."

Blues fought back to claim a share of the spoils after going behind to a Barry Corr header, with Cowan-Hall, Morgan and Jo Kuffour all impressing as substitutes on a heavy pitch.

Cowan-Hall said: "It's a blessing in disguise I didn't start really, playing on that. Jo Kuffour when he came on said it was heavy at times.

"It was a hard earned point but we knew when we came down here it wasn't going to be an easy game. The gaffer outlined that from the start, it was going to be a lot of hard work and graft. That's going to inevitably get us something out of the game."

The forward said it was down to the players to keep up their upturn in form to get away from danger, having claimed seven points in the space of a week.

Asked where Blues could finish in the table, he said: "I couldn't tell you. There's teams that were struggling at the start like Plymouth who are now flying. This league, you never know. We are just going to go about our business and keep doing what we are doing, and see where it takes us."
