Beppe Sannino dedicated Watford’s 4-0 win against Blackpool to the Hornets supporters and praised “the soul” of his squad following the comprehensive victory.

A brace apiece from Mathias Ranegie and Troy Deeney saw the Golden Boys to a comfortable win over a poor Tangerines side.

“In part we have to share the victory with the supporters who went to Bolton last week and watched a poor performance,” Sannino said.

“So my lads and I would like to dedicate the win to the people that travelled last week.”

While Deeney and Ranegie will receive the majority of the plaudits, Sannino was quick to praise his entire team.

He said: “In the first half they didn’t have the chance to shoot on goal. (Manuel) Almunia wasn’t working at all so I think this was the best answer to the Bolton defeat.

“If I have to go into small detail, I didn’t like the first ten minutes of the second half. When you score three goals it is normal to ease off but I need the right mentality. We always need to be focussed.”

He continued: “We need all 11 players to make a good result, not just one player. It shows the soul of the squad.

“If you play as a team then you can cause a lot of problems, today you saw that.”

It was Ranegie’s first home appearance for the Hornets and the striker headed Watford in front in the 15th minute. Deeney doubled the advantage before Ranegie grabbed his second of the game shortly before the interval.

“I am happy for Ranegie and I am happy with his performance,” Sannino said. “He came from a difficult period (not playing regularly) so I am happy for him and I am also happy for Troy. They both scored very nice goals.

“I am expecting something more from Ranegie. I am hoping for consistency, hopefully he can carry on in this way.”

Deeney netted Watford’s fourth goal in the second period. It was a fine finish from the striker as he turned on the edge of the area and curled a shot into the top corner.

Ranegie and Deeney linked up well throughout the contest and Sannino was asked about the physical presence they pose opposition defenders.

“We are forgetting very quickly about (Fernando) Forestieri,” Sannino joked. “In the box it is very important to have physical quality.

“Some games we need more agility and in others we need a more physical presence. I will choose though game by game and on the opposition.”

He added: “Don’t just look at how tall Ranegie is, watch what he has in his heart. For English football you need a big heart and I hope he will have that. Today he scored two goals so I am happy.

“But I am not focussed on whether my strikers score two or three goals. I am focussed on the overall picture.”
