Gaz: We can't lose our focus
SAFETY first is still the target for Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth as he looks to continue his side's revival against play off-chasing Southend United tomorrow.
Wanderers have the chance to make it a hat trick of victories at Roots Hall after finally bringing an end to their winless streak this week.
Those back-to-back wins have inched Blues further away from trouble, and they've proved crucial with second from bottom Northampton Town also picking up successive victories this week.
And Ainsworth has warned his side not to get complacent at their upturn in form, saying his focus is still to get further away from the dreaded drop zone sooner rather than later.
He said: "The big thing now is to keep grounded and keep everyone's heads focused on the job. We've still got a big job to do.
"All I can look at is looking to get away from the bottom two. I want to keep Wycombe Wanderers in the league. It's not nice to have come to this.
"We should be four points better off than we are, but that's by the by. With those four points we would be talking of different targets. Now it's getting away from the bottom of the league - first and foremost is to win as many games as we can.
"What we've done is made the gap tighter between us and up to ninth or tenth place."
Ainsworth added: "We're a couple of points behind our total of where we were last year but we're on a run at the moment and it's good to go into games on a run. We've got a platform to build on, rather than still looking for the first win."
Southend had aspirations of automatic promotion this season but despite sitting in seventh position in League Two they're now the most out of form team in the division, having failed to win any of their last seven matches and being beaten by Northampton on Tuesday.
Wanderers - now unbeaten in four - have the chance to complete a rare double, having beaten the Shrimpers 2-1 at Adams Park in August.
