A goalless draw at home to Rochdale brought's Watford's ten-game losing streak to a fittingly low-key end.
Record signing Ross Jenkins, having endured 14 goalless outings since his arrival four months earlier, was omitted from the 12 for the first time.
He returned for Watford's next match, a 5-1 mauling of relegation-destined Scunthorpe United, and scored twice coming off the bench as Watford halted the slide in time to avert relegation to the fourth division.
