JAMIE Gleeson’s 90th minute goal consigned Bromley to defeat at Dorchester after the Lillywhites looked to have rescued a point by fighting back from 2-0 down.

After three weeks without a game, leaders Bromley were perhaps beaten rather more comprehensively than the 3-2 scoreline suggests at bottom of the table Dorchester Town.

The hosts certainly mastered the blustery conditions far better than the title chasers, and on a glue-pot of a pitch, not helped by two heavy showers just before and after kick-off, the playing surface cut up very badly.

Two goals from Dorchester debutants Nathan Craig and Ashley Yeoman either side of half-time seemingly put the home side in control.

However, it was game on in the 82nd minute as Jay May halved the deficit and five minutes later parity was restored by Louis Dennis, only for Gleeson to have the final say at the death.

Warren Byerley and Yeoman both tested Bromley’s keeper Joe Welch early on.

Bradley Goldberg’s curling shot was off target and, after being played wide by May, the striker’s delicate chip from an acute angle went agonisingly wide of the far post.

Byerley mis-cued in front of goal, while Nick Crittenden and Charlie Lossaso both fired wide as the home side bossed proceedings.

Goldberg was unlucky on 42 minutes when his volley was blocked by home keeper Alan Walker-Harris.

From the clearance, Danny Waldren unnecessarily fouled Byerley on the edge of the area and Craig stepped up to send the free-kick over the defensive wall beyond Welch into the corner of the net.

Dorchester doubled their lead six minutes into the second half when an interchange of passing resulted in Lossaso’s cross being converted at the far post by Yeoman.

Goldberg missed a great chance five minutes later to reduce the arrears, but dragged his shot wide of the far post when well placed.

Dorchester continued to dominate with Nathan Walker flashing a header just over from a corner, and Yeoman, Byerley and Lossaso all forcing Welch into action.

Bromley were thrown a lifeline with eight minutes remaining when May turned in the area to score inside the post from Jack Holland’s knock down.

And they levelled the scores on 87 minutes as substitute and debutant Dennis curled a shot around Walker-Harris following a throw in on the right.

However, Bromley were fortunate to be back on terms and Dorchester got their just desserts in the final minute.

A long raking cross-field pass from Walker picked out the unmarked Lossaso who ghosted past Dean Pooley to cross for Gleeson to hammer past Welch for a vital three points for the home side.

The Lillywhites are at home to Boreham Wood on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
