Lee Clark felt Birmingham City deserved at least a point from tonight's defeat at Vicarage Road.

The Blues suffered their second loss of the campaign against the Hornets, again through a Troy Deeney goal, but they hit the woodwork twice in the first half and almost snatched a point through a late Aaron Martin header.

Clark said: “We deserved something from the game without a shadow of a doubt. Our second-half performance was very, very good. First half I had too many regrets. I know we hit the post a couple of times from long-range efforts but we didn’t put them under enough pressure.

“We had some great set-play deliveries from the best player on the pitch by a million miles, Emyr Huws, the stand-out performer and we had some terrific situations from his set-plays but we played too much tippy-tappy football at the back and not getting the ball forward and playing in Watford’s half. We did in the second half and we caused them lots of problems and we should have got something from the game, at least a point."

He continued: “I’m disappointed for the players and I’m frustrated that we the lost the game to such a poor goal because we should have got a block on the shot.

"You’ve got to be prepared to get hurt to stop the ball going in your goal, you’ve got to do anything that’s legal in the game to make sure the ball doesn’t go in your net and we didn’t show enough desire to stop the ball going in the net.”
