Watford entertained Bill Shankly's Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup at Vicarage Road.
Shankly had claimed that he would not have come to watch Watford play if he lived in the town and had been given a free ticket, but the Reds were comprehensively outplayed.
Former pub footballer Barry Endean's thumping header to Lugg's low cross was enough to book Watford's semi-final defeat.
