Brighton & Hove Albion assistant boss Nathan Jones reflects on Watford defeat

Brighton assistant boss Nathan Jones admitted it had been a frustrating afternoon for his side following the 2-0 defeat at Watford.

The Seagulls were sunk by goals from Ikechi Anya and Fernando Forestieri and any hope they had of getting back into the game was effectively ended when Leonardo Ulloa had a second-half header ruled out.

The assistant head coach said: “The first one [goal] did come slightly against the run of play but they took that, it kind of knocked the wind out of us a little bit and we huffed and puffed without really taking the game to them.

“Then obviously the second goal came at a bad time as well and to rub salt into the wounds with the disallowed goal, that might have come at a time when we might have kicked on and got something out of the game. All round, we’re quite frustrated really.”

Complete justice after we were robbed down at Brighton.

Fessi got his revenge today for not having his "goal" at the Amex.

Why no complimentary words about Watford's deserved win? Sour grapes?

Watford STOPPED them from playing but, like most managers, he chose to ignore that aspect.

Statistics are very telling. Brighton had 66% (!!!) possession which is quite something for an away team yet only ONE shot on target and that was mainly down to high pressing, very good defending and, for once, an aggressive midfield.

Not getting too excited but it was a win and a clean sheet against a good team so hopefully we can actually build on it rather than go two steps back.
