Leyton Orient were beaten 2-1 at Rotherham United after a last minute winner from Alex Revell.

The O's conceded an early goal when Wes Thomas headed the Millers into the lead. But Moses Odubajo replied for Orient as he smashed home a 76th minute equaliser.

But Revell's 94th minute goal was a cruel blow for Orient as they slipped out of the top two in League 1.

Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick was handed his second debut for Orient after signing for the club yesterday. He replaced Eldin Jakupovic after he was recalled from his loan by Hull City.

The O's were without striker Kevin Lisbie due to injury which meant Robbie Simpson was handed a rare start in attack.

Both sides faced extremely blustery conditions which made flowing football extremely challenging. But the visitors had an early opportunity from Simpson's flick-on which Dean Cox volleyed high and wide.

The Millers grabbed the opening goal after just ten minutes when Thomas headed home Ben Pringle's teasing cross.

Orient had a decent chance to equalise after Cox's shot was parried by Adam Collin but Simpson failed to get enough power on his header which was comfortably saved.

Revell went close for the hosts with a long distance strike which was well saved by Alnwick.

The Millers were stepping up the pressure and only a brilliant block from Mathieu Baudry stopped Kieran Agard's shot from a probable second goal.

Orient were caught on the counter-attack and Thomas should have done better but he blasted over after cutting inside from the left.

Russell Slade's side created their best chance of the half when the ball fell to Cox but the winger fired his low shot wide of the target.

The visitors spurned a decent opportunity at the start of the second half when Lloyd James fired a free-kick over the bar.

Orient made their first change before the hour mark when top scorer David Mooney replaced Simpson.

Rotherham should have doubled their lead through Tom Hitchcock but his effort was well saved by Alnwick.

The O's made a second substitution when midfielder Marvin Bartley replaced James.

Orient grabbed their equaliser when Chris Dagnall sent in a cross which winger Odubajo blasted into the roof of the net.

The visitors made their final change when striker Jamar Loza replaced Dagnall.

It looked like Orient had earned a point but Revell's last minute strike flew past Alnwick to send them to a painful defeat.
