The Hornets say new signing Daniel Tozser is fit enough to be in contention for the squad on Sunday as long as he receives international clearance in time.
Genoa’s Tozser joined Watford on loan until the end of the season on Wednesday but they have yet to receive international clearance, although no problems are expected.
Tozser has not played a competitive match all season but Watford insist he is fit enough to be contention for Sunday’s match with Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Hornets confirmation regarding Tozser’s availability came before a deal for Samba Diakite was wrapped up so there has been no word on whether the QPR man is also fit enough to play.
Diakite has not made a competitive appearance since August but QPR suggested he would be able to make his debut at the weekend, if selected.
Almen Abdi and Lewis McGugan are two players who certainly won’t feature against Brighton due to their respective foot and thigh injuries. Essaid Belkalem remains a long-term absentee.
Gabriele Angella collected his fifth yellow card of the season in last night’s 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest but he is eligible to play as the suspension deadline for accumulating cautions had passed.
