Watford will have to pay a significant amount of Samba Diakite’s wages if they are to sign the Queens Park Rangers midfielder on loan.

Hornets head coach Beppe Sannino has stated he would like to bring another midfielder to the club and Harry Redknapp is happy for the 25-year-old leave Loftus Road if the right offer is submitted.

Redknapp told WestLondonSport.com: “We would let him go out on loan if someone wants to take him, but they’ve got to take his contract.

“If the right offer came in then we wouldn’t stand in his way. But we wouldn’t loan him to someone who wants to take only a small part of his wages – no-one does us any favours.”

That could prove a stumbling point as the Hornets do not pay over the odds for players wages - a major reason as to why Nathaniel Chalobah didn’t return to Vicarage Road.

Diakite initially joined Rangers on loan from Nancy in January 2012 before the move was made permanent in the summer, when he signed a four-year deal.

Diakite made ten appearances last season before Mark Hughes was replaced by Redknapp.

He made a further five outings for QPR before heading to the African Cup of Nations where he was injured in Mali’s fourth game of the tournament.

Diakite only made one more appearances for QPR last season, which means he has not featured in a league match for more than a year.
