On their way to promotion via play-offs, Watford demolished a struggling Crewe Alexandra side 4-1 at Vicarage Road.
With Ben Foster ruled out with a leg injury, veteran Alec Chamberlain was called into the side.
As a consequence Chamberlain broke by 50 days Jim McLaren's 67-year-old record to become the oldest player to represent the club in the Football League, aged 41 years 222 days.
