Uche Ikpeazu has joined Crewe Alexandra on loan until the end of the season.

The young striker's new club wasted no time in giving him some game time as he played in an Under-21 fixture earlier today, scoring his side's first goal in a 3-2 defeat at Huddersfield Town.

There were suggestions Ikpeazu could be set for a move after he tweeted "New Chapter" on the social networking website on Friday.

The forward moved to Vicarage Road in the summer after ending last season as the leading academy level scorer in the country with 28 goals for Reading.

However, he has been restricted to just two appearances on the Hornets bench in the current campaign, both as an unused substitute, and finds himself down the first-team pecking order for one of the two attacking positions.

Ikpeazu's move to the League 1 club comes a week after we reported Watford had agreed a compensation fee with his former club after months of negotiations.
