Watford season ticket holders raise more than £7,000 for charity through club campaign

Hornets season ticket holders have raised more than £7,000 for charity as part of the club's 'Say No To No-Shows' campaign.

The Watford Observer supported the Golden Boys' campaign when it was launched in the summer and it has proved a success.

The Hornets asked season ticket holders who were unable to attend matches to inform the club so they could re-sell the seats, with the profit being split evenly between two registered charities: The Peace Hospice and Watford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust.

So far, more than £3,500 has been raised for both of the organisations.

The club’s ‘Say No To No-Shows’ campaign reflects the fact that, typically, 20 per cent of Hornets’ season ticket holders do not attend every match at Vicarage Road.

Season ticket holders unable to attend a home match should e-mail ticket.office@watfordfc.com with their name, Fan ID and seat details.

What an excellent initiative this has turned out to be. Watford FC could have profited like so many others but chose to put something back into the community. I am sure others will follow suit. We are blessed to have a wonderful family club to support in the heart of the town. Luv the Horns!

Still loads of empty seats...when club say its sold out.

Why sell season tickets to people who don't go,vicarage road end is at best 80 percent full,it's good to re-sell ticket but 7000 quid over 12 home games is not great...

Why don't Watford fc terminate season tickets that miss 3 games in a season, this would stop adults buying cheap season tickets for kids that only go a few times each season...all this is doing is stopping real fans going to games...

terminate season ticket if you miss 3 games!!! you what!!! people pay good money for their season tickets and imo its their right to turn up or not!!! the only reason we've now got so many season ticket holders is the fact people jumped on the bandwagon hoping they'd get a cheap season ticket to watch Premiership football!!! you wait and see how many renew if we don't go up this season...

Saying people should have their season tickets terminated if they don't show 3 times is like saying you should have your car taken off you if you only use it a weekends!!!

All Watford fans go on about is(it's a family stand)

I would say its probley the worst stand in the country for atmosphere,no other team has this problem with empty seats and no atmosphere at one end of the ground, probley costs us a few points each season.

Put the family stand in the bottom of the Rouse stand.

It must be moved.
