Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade described their 2-0 victory at Shrewsbury Town as a "big win" after they moved back into the top two of League 1.

The O's climbed above Wolves in the race for promotion following a Moses Odubajo effort and a late own goal from Tamika Mkandawire.

Slade said: "It was a big win but our form has been excellent. We've had two wins and a draw [in the league] coming out of Christmas, all three away from home so I can't ask for anymore."

The opening goal for Odubajo was created by debutant striker Jamar Loza and Slade was impressed with the performance of the Norwich City loanee.

Slade said: "He's got loads of potential and we were pleased with his contribution. Inevitably he's playing Under-21 football so it's very difficult for him to adjust to first-team football so quickly but he did well.

"It was a great little ball as well for Mo for the goal. It was a really well-worked goal that got us in front. I don't think there was anyone else in our team that would have got there because Mo's pace took him into the right area. The angle was then really tight but he's managed to squeeze it in so we were delighted with that."

The O's never reached top gear but their manager felt they deserved their win and were always an attacking threat to the Shrews.

Slade said: "I thought we deserved the lead to be honest. We wasted some possession at times but we always looked such a threat going forward. Kevin Lisbie was commanding up front and was allowing us to get up the pitch. We were getting the ball wide with Coxy [Dean] and Mo and causing problems."
