Seven South-East runners took part in the Essex Cross-Country Championships in Colchester on Sunday with all four men finishing in the top 150.

Patrick Brown, who had won the Walthanstow Parkrun the day before, led the way with an excellent time of 46.01 to claim 45th place.

Russell Price finished in 51.46 for 93rd place with Paul Thomspon close behind in 107th with 52.40. Lee Wollaston crossed the line 134th with a time of 56.18.

In the women’s race three East London runners finished inside the top 100.

Alexandra Wilkinson crossed the line in 67th place, clocking a time of 41.34 whilst Celia Payaneeandee finished 76th, just under one minute behind in 42.23.

Fiona Day completed the successful day for the Wanstead club, finishing 85th in 43.19.

Also taking place on Sunday was the Regents Park 10km series which saw over 400 runners taking part.

Five East-London runners featured in the event with Jamie Xavier the top finisher for the club in 86th place with a time of 43.57.

Sarah Burns registered a time of 47.36 for 147th while there was a personal best of 53.02 for Ninette Fernandes.

Sophie Edwards was not far behind in 56.04 finishing 297th, whilst Don Bennett crossed the line in 58.20 and 328th position.

Elsewhere, Patrick Brown won the Walthanstow Parkrun in an impressive time of 20.37. Steve Bywater stopped the clock on 27.12.

In the Wanstead Flats Parkrun, the club was also well represented with three runners inside the top 12.

Samuel Browne finished second in 19.55, Gavin Stebbing was third in 20.26 and Maud Hodston was the first woman finisher, completing in 12th place overall with a time of 24.57.
