Osasuna target Watford and Udinese striker Javier Acuna

Watford striker Javier Acuna is reportedly a target for Spanish side Osasuna.

Acuna, who joined from the Italian club Udinese in the summer, is said to be keen on a move to Osasuna, who are managed by his old head coach at Cadiz, Javi Gracia.

But there could be a stumbling block as Spanish media claim Osasuna want Acuna on a free transfer and it claims the Pozzos are keen to receive a fee, which is reportedly around 400,000 euros.

The 25-year-old has only made six starts and six substitute appearances in all competitions for Watford since he joined the club in the summer, scoring one goal.

...but never looked like being a 15 goal a season striker. Will get even less of a chance with Ranegie arriving. Shame, had high hopes, just like for Geijo last season.

I'm sure Acuna has ability and something to offer but apart from the wonder strike against Norwich I haven't seen much to date. In fairness when he does get a chance to play he does get stuck in and definitely has some ability in air which is more than can be said for Fabbrini. I'm not to sure he's happy at Watford if the body language is anything to go by when he trudges past the Rookery on his way to the Rous Stand on matchdays.
If his old coach is prepared to give him a chance and the Pozzo's can get some money out of the transfer then it might be best to let him go and get someone else in whose definitely up for it and can score goals.

Hang on - Acuna signed permanently in the summer didn't he? Surely Watford should be expecting any fee and not Udinese, ownership issues accepted.

i would asume there are sell on clauses in everyones contract that if we sell then money goes to Udinese, its not as if we paid anything in first place.

It's probably best the pozzos receive any fee in euros (i.e paid to Udinese), otherwise Thomas Cook will be after a a percentage on the currency exchange.

Good luck Javier. Could see it just wasn't happening for you from the start and probably much to do with off the field issues rather than on.

The report says "it claims the Pozzos are keen to receive a fee". That could apply equally to Watford as it could to Udinese.

The fee goes to whoever owns the player. Although he is registered to play for Watford, do we know the details of his contract of employment? That goes for all the players.

No - it's been confirmed today he signed permanently for Watford last summer so he is a Watford player until 2016 unless sold as looks possible.

For what ever reason Acuna face doesn't seem to fit. Personally I like him an honest hard working player and think given a run he could have made a difference.
Sometimes in football as indeed life you see people who have the right qualities but for some reason it doesn't work out and they move on to achieve elsewhere.Years ago Watford had a striker called Allan Mayes who seemed a decent player but never really made it. If my memory serves me right he was sold to Swindon and kept knocking goals in for them.
Beppe will make his mind up and decide whether to persevere with him or not .I wish the lad well and will be sorry things didn't work out for him at the Vic COYH

yes Alan Mayes - banged in the goals for swindon and was then signed by Chelsea then in the old Div 2. Really talented but no-one else in the team seemed to be able to read his runs or passes.
