Watford signed Heidar Helguson from Lillestrom for £1.5m, making him the club's first million-pound purchase.
Helguson's single-mindedness brightened the remainder of the doomed 1999/2000 season, and over five-and-a-half years at Vicarage Road he was to make 199 appearances, scoring 64 goals.
He flourished under Ray Lewington's management, channelling his ferocity and astonishing leap to good effect and scored some critical goals to avert relegation at the end of the 2004/05 season before joining Fulham in another million-pound-plus deal.
