Hopefully come the start of May this defeat will be regarded as a blessing in disguise and only a minor irritant should the O’s gain automatic promotion or, at worst, land up in the play-offs’ lottery.

Despite a bright start with Moses Odubajo especially pitting his wits against superior, higher league opposition – and even though four places in the league pyramid separated both sides – it seemed once Yeovil had grabbed the lead, they then stepped up a gear and it was just a case of how many we would lose by.

Obviously, critics would opine that the O’s set up wrong with Yohann Lasimant as the lone forward. Frustratingly, he often strayed out onto the flanks, where he is more accustomed, leaving us with absolutely no one leading the attack. Perhaps we were doing a ‘Barcelona’ playing a ‘4-6-0’, but that would only serve to make light of what was in reality a ‘thrashing’.

Hopefully, this result will only serve to fire the lads up and our bouncebackability or resolve will be tested in the forthcoming fixtures – thankfully against sides below us in the table – but nonetheless challenging as they have their own agendas with League 1 safety.

With Wolves seemingly imploding with an arguably indifferent second-half display against us when we grabbed such a vital post-Xmas point and their more recent and probably significant reverse against a side we put to the sword on Boxing Day – this must serve to inspire the lads over the coming weeks as just about anyone can beat anyone in this division.

So, as disappointing it was losing in south Somerset, at least the game was played, thus not resulting in a wasted journey due to inclement weather, warranting a re-arranged fixture, and thereby avoiding an ensuing fixture pile-up.

Without the distractions of cup football, there are now 23 games left – 69 points to be played for – and the ball is now firmly in the O’s court. And, remember, we started 2013 with defeat at Huish Park and what a year we went on to have! A repeat of that would be fantastic.

Keep the faith,

Up the O’s.
