Udinese boss Francesco Guidolin has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant Watford head coach position.

With Udinese 15th in Serie A, after four defeats in their last six matches, the prospect of Guidolin being appointed by fellow Pozzo-owned club Watford following Gianfranco Zola's departure always seemed unlikely despite initially being the bookies' favourite.

And today Guidolin told udineseblog.it: "There is no chance [of taking over Watford]. But I want to spare a thought and a hug [for] Zola who has shown distinction and a sense of responsibility on this occasion."

Former Palermo and Chievo manager Giuseppe Sannino has claimed he is on his way to England to discuss replacing Zola. Read more here.
