There has been a large shift in the betting to become Watford’s new boss with Giuseppe Sannino now as short as 1-6 favourite to succeed Gianfranco Zola at Vicarage Road.

The 56-year-old former midfielder has managed more than 12 clubs and has Serie A experience with Siena, Palermo and Chievo.

Sannino’s initial stint at Palermo was shortlived – he lasted only three games – before he was reappointed by the Sicilians. He then took charge at Chievo but lost his job in November after just four months at the helm, with the team winning just one and losing eight of their opening 12 games.

Sannino is 1-6 with both Bet Victor and Stan James, with former West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke and Udinese head coach Francesco Guidolin the next best priced at around 12-1 to 14-1.

Zola, meanwhile, is the favourite with a host of betting firms to succeed Clarke at The Hawthorns.

The Watford Observer understands the Hornets players are training today and having a pre-arranged fitness session with head of sport science Giovanni Brignardello.
