Watford goalkeeper Manuel Almunia was left out of the squad against Leeds United on Saturday because of a knee problem.
Almunia was taken off at half-time against Bolton Wanderers last month and missed subsequent matches against Yeovil Town and Burnley due to illness.
The Spanish stopper recovered last week and was expected to be available for Saturday's test at Leeds.
When asked if Almunia's absence was down to selection or fitness, head coach Gianfranco Zola said: "Almunia has been coming back from illness but he also has a small problem on his knee.
"He had a scan yesterday (Friday) and we will assess the problem."
