Punter wins £141,000 thanks to Wanderers victory
A WIN for Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday left a lucky punter nearly £150,000 richer after an elaborate bet paid off.
The fan had correctly predicted four results the previous day and just needed a victory for Wanderers - combined with a goal for opponents Torquay - for the accumulator to come off.
Fingernails were no doubt being chewed as Blues twice fell behind before a brace from Paris Cowan-Hall secured a 3-2 win and with it a successful gamble.
The punter had to predict five results and hope both sides scored in all the games he lumped £50 on.
A surprise 1-1 draw between Portugal and Israel had the longest odds of 7/1, while the unnamed gambler also backed Belgium to win in Croatia and Sweden to beat Austria.
And he was grateful for a consolation penalty from Hungary, as they were hammered 8-1 by Holland, meaning all four of his Friday night picks came in.
That left him needing a Wanderers win - and thanks to Cowan-Hall's winner the gambler is an estimated £141,750 better off.
