Watford’s hopes of signing England Under-21 international Tom Carroll have ended after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan tonight.
We’ve reported since the middle of August that the Hornets were hoping to bring in the former Parmiter’s School pupil on loan but he has linked up with former boss Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road.
Commenting on QPR’s website, Redknapp said: “Tom’s a fantastic signing for us on loan.
“He’s a player I fully expect to go to the very top of the game – he’s a future England international.
“I played him at Spurs in Europe and he was fantastic for me. He’s got all the attributes to be a top, top player.
“He can pass, he can create, he can score goals – he’s a fantastic player and I’m confident he’ll flourish here for us.”
Carroll, who is currently on international duty with the England Under-21 squad, added: “I am delighted to come here and really excited.
“Harry was a big factor for me because of how he likes the game to be played.
“The important thing for me now at this time in my career is to be playing regular football and hopefully I can achieve that here.
“I’ve seen what Kyle (Walker) and Andros (Townsend) got from their loans at Loftus Road, and I hope I can enjoy similar success.”
Carroll had also been linked with moves to Crystal Palace and Ajax.
