The Watford Observer understands Neven Markovic is training with the Hornets after the player took to Twitter again this morning to clarify his stay with the club.

The Serbian defender, who is a free agent after leaving American Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City in November, created speculation about his future on the social media site last night when he tweeted a picture of himself in a Hornets training kit, together with the words: “Fantastic day with new teammates.”

We now understand the 26-year-old is only training with the club, which is not unusual, after he posted this morning: “Wow, sorry guys for misunderstanding, I am just honoured to be part of the Watford team for a couple of days, weeks and I am new player.”

In response to subsequent tweets, he added: “Just practising with the guys.”

Markovic started his career at FK Rad Belgrade but has only made a handful of appearances with each club he has subsequently been with.

Looking at his history can't see us signing him. Don't think he has ever played a full season and no mention of any long term injuries so what is the issue with him over the past 8 years as he is 26 years old?

Don't think there is any question of him being signed, the club are just letting him train with squad for a while. Not sure why.

Reminds me of when we were in the PL, and some red top reckoned Lothar Matthias was going to sign for us, with Uncle Elton paying his wages!
