The funeral of former Watford player Dave Bewley, who died at the age of 92 on March 6, will be held next Tuesday.
Watford supporters are welcome to attend the service, which begins at 10.30am and will be held at The Vale Cemetery and Crematorium in Luton.
Bewley joined Watford from Fulham in May 1953 for £500 and was a first team regular for the Hornets before moving to Folkestone in 1956.
He retired from football in 1957 but maintained his love for the sport and was a season ticket holder at Watford for many years.
His daughter, Stevie Bradley, said: “Sky Sports was invented for my dad. He wanted to watch every game and would get frustrated when he couldn’t.
“He was a connoisseur of football. Even if you didn’t like football, if you sat down with him he would change your mind.”
Bewley had been the Hornets oldest known player before his passing and a memorial game will be held in his memory between a Watford Legends side and a Reading Legends XI.
The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday May 5 at Northwood FC and kicks off at 1pm.
“The game was actually being planned before his passing,” Stevie said. “We were all going to go and he would have enjoyed it. I can’t thank everyone who is involved in organising the game enough.”

I watched him as a player and remember him at Kodak, good bloke.
