DAVE Winfield said he's not in the game for the glory despite being nominated for the League Two Player of the Month award.
The no nonsense defender is on a three man shortlist for the monthly award after scoring a goal and helping Wanderers keep two clean sheets in February.
And he said his nomination - which he admitted came as a surprise - was a reflection on a collective team effort.
Winfield is one of two defenders, along with Gillingham stopper Leon Legge, on a shortlist that is normally dominated by in-form strikers.
But he said: "We are not in it for the glory - we knew that when we signed up. We go out there and try to do our job. I'm fortunate enough to do that and we do it well.
"It's always a nice feeling to be nominated because people appreciate what you're doing. Whatever walk of life you're in, it's always nice to be appreciated. I try to do the best I can whenever I go out there.
"It was a surprise. I know we've done quite well as a team and squad. It's a nice thing to be nominated.
"We've done well as a team. When people have been called upon, they have stepped up and delivered."
Winfield typified the battling qualities that led to his nomination by playing through a pelvic injury picked up at Rochdale before succumbing late on against Rotherham last night.
Asked if the injury would keep him out of Saturday's game with Northampton, he said: "I'm really not sure. I'm in early in the morning to get assessed - we'll see how it recovers throughout the week. I'm very disappointed I've had to come off."
Winfield finds out on Friday whether he, Legge or Burton midfielder Jacques Maghoma has won the award.
