Watford's Under-18 side are through to the Youth Alliance Cup Southern final after two goals from Alex Jakubiak sealed a 2-1 win over Northampton Town at London Colney.

It was Jakubiak's second brace in successive matches for Dave Hughes' side who saw off a late scare after Northampton striker Ivan Toney pulled a goal back late on.

The first goal came just before the half hour mark as Bobson Bawling played in Jakubiak who beat a defender before finding the bottom corner to put the young Hornets 1-0 up.

Jakubiak's second was the better finish though as he picked the ball up 35 yards out before driving into the penalty area and applying a smart finish.

Northampton set up a nervous finale when Toney reduced the deficit with ten minutes to go but Watford kept their nerve and held on to book a place in the final.

The Under-18s wil now travel to Bristol Rovers on Wednesday, April 3 at the League Two side's Memorial Stadium with the winners going on to face the champions of the northern competition.
