Hornets midfielder Ross Jenkins is set to join League Two side Barnet on an initial one-month loan, the Watford Observer understands.

The 22-year-old midfielder has made more than 80 league appearances for Watford but has featured just once this season under Gianfranco Zola.

Jenkins spent a month at Plymouth Argyle earlier in the campaign but made just two appearances for the Pilgrims before returning to Vicarage Road due to injury.

He has not played a competitive game since the beginning of October but will boost the Bees' midfield options as John Oster remains absent due to a hamstring injury.

All I can say is good luck Ross. Things have moved on beyond your level as we head for the Prem. Thanks for your service.

I bet that's what Arsenal fans said when we signed Almunia haha. He'll be alright for League 2

Never quite lived up to the great name in my opinion, however sure he has a future at a slightly lower level, good luck Ross.

Never was going to cut it in the championship as the level is so high now... You just have to look at some of the players that play in this league... A very very high standard compared to ten years ago!
No shame on Jenkins part and hell be better for taking a step down the the lower league, I hope it works out for him!

He's only going on a months loan. He's still our player.

All players out on loan have a chance to show what they can do either to the loanee club or to others. Better this than hanging around our training ground waiting for contracts to wind down get cancelled

People forget that under rodgers he was included in junior England squads and was great alongside jack cork. He has gone down hill but he was a great player back then. Granted he could have just been carried by cork but his injury could be to blame.....good luck to the lad
