AUDIO: Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy says 'I don't give a ***** what Watford are doing'

Picture: Action Images Picture: Action Images

"I don't give a ***** what they are doing personally," was Mick McCarthy's response when he was asked about Watford's recruitment policy this season.

The Hornets' decision to loan 14 players in the summer has led to criticism from sections of the media and those working in football.

This has resulted in Watford head coach Gianfranco Zola and opposition managers being asked the same questions about the loan situation on a weekly basis.

Ipswich boss McCarthy is renowned for his no-nonsense approach and when asked about the Golden Boys' recruitment policy, he responded with: "I don't give a ***** what they are doing personally.

"If it is within the rules, it is within the rules. Let them get on with it. They are talking about changing the rules, so what.

"We played against a better team than us who did everything within the rules of the game.

"He has a good side there Gianfranco and he is a great fella. You are not going to have me moaning about it."

The above quote is not included in the audio from McCarthy's press conference but you can hear more comments from the Ipswich manager below.

If only wolves had kept this real man as their manager - would they be staring relegation to the third division in the face? - I dont think so. Next season Ipswich will be a force in the Championship, Wolves will be struggling against the likes of Gillingham!

Mr McCarthy knows a loophole when he sees one; this is not a loophole, it's what the rules state. I think Hull have followed the same route with their recent Egyptian goalscorers, so what?

Assuming WO reporting is accurate I'm struggling to identify which 5 letter word would have been used in the context here and required 5 asterisks - any suggestions? :)

Honest and a straightforward decent man. Someone to look up to, Mr. Holloway and perhaps learn a thing or two from. Great respect. Ipswich are lucky that they have him. Perhaps he can get a footballer out of Loach.......

I've never liked Mick McCarthy, coz his nose is on an angle i can't help but look at it rather than listen to what he's saying! But this has changed my opinion of him! A humble manager accepting his defeat like a man... no mind games, no "It's not fair... but it'd be ok if we were doing it" rubbish! There is no Loophole, we're abiding by Football league rules and it all boils down to is the fact that Watford shouldn't be succesful... ever... it's not normal!

Well done Mick, i have respect for you now!

I remember Van Den Hauwe being substituted by McCarthy to the sounds of "One Bill Whyman, theres only one Bill Whyman". We did not stop that night and was very funny . McCarthy did the right thing by his player but I am sure he would have been smiling inside.

Right ok, I have just received the official meaning of the five stars but have been told not to swear in sharing it with you all. So, here goes. Whilst if it was four stars, it would be a lot easier to predict, there being only two likely options, putting an "e" on the end limits it to one of those options by arriving at a derivative of that option.

And I see Martin Samuel is spitting yet more bile about our loans in the Mail today. According to him we could be promoted "at the expense of another championship rival that the Football League had a duty to protect". I think this man is mentally unstable. He is now paranoid about WFC and no amount of reasoning or comments such as those by MM of Ipswich will lead this guy to believe he has got it wrong.

The problem with Holloway is if he doesn't hear his own voice he's worried people will forget about him!

Am i alone in being concerned about this negative reaction to our situation (aka envy) amongst other clubs and media? If there was a vote on this over the Summer (which will happen according to sky sports) and the FL voted to change the current loan system what would the impact be on us? Would the Pozzos sell if that were the case? Is there any sort of back up plan?

The FL might discuss and have a vote but I think their hands will be tied as what they can do .
As we all know its our international loans that are causing concern, now being 'international ' they come under the umbrella of FIFA or UEFA, I can't imagine Sepp Blatter taking to kindly to being told what to do by Holloway or our press !
What would be ironic was if the FA voted to outlaw the loan-back loophole , ala the Zaha situation .

As usual the press can't get their facts right and it has only taken an intelligent business football man to make use of the system. If the rules are changed so what? Just means that between all three clubs there will be free transfers. So will th FL then try and restrict the number of players being sold from one club to another and fall foul of EU regulations on free movement of people?.......I doubt it. This is a non issue highlighted by some people in the press who can't spell and have the inteligence of a newt and seem to be envious where businessmen shows success can be achieved without spending thousands or millions on players.
The only thing they could probbably moan about is that in the past 80% of our squad had to be made up of our youth players because we had no money. Now this is down to more like 20% with the rest of the squad being made up of experienced British Isles players and International players. This is how a team should be structured. They don't expect little Watford to do this and they don't like it.
So I say to them 'two fingers'. We are not breaking any rules.
I hope Watford are successful and do go up not only to prove a point but to show some press people or so called pundits they have all the answers to football's issues.

Personally I can't stand the Daily Mail's self righteous, holier than thou, moralising stance. It's ironic that their journalists are probably more seedy, dishonest, uncaring, and just plain nasty than the people they crucify.

The problem with Holloway is if he doesn't hear his own voice he's worried people will forget about him!

Nice to hear normal mangers like Clarke and McCarthy come and say well done to the better team.

Keep up the good work GFZ and the Pozzos's.
"Dubai Hornet"? I am an hour away from you as I type!
Good man, glad to hear the hornets are taking over the Middle East! Are you based out here or just visiting?
Yes, good to hear from you! I spend 50% of my time in the Middle East and 50% in the UK, trips worked around the WFC fixture list! Most of the time I am in Abu Dhabi although now, as I type, I am in Doha. We should meet up.
A Middle East supporters branch sounds good. I'm based in Dubai but spend a day every week in Abu Dhabi and a day in RAK. Would be happy to meet for a beer and discuss how great the hornets are!

Hey, don't knock open toe sandals and unkempt beards. Haven't you seen "the Life of Brian".

Since it's best not to exchange email addresses on here (!!!), search for posts from me from the 13th March onwards as I will be in AD and Dubai a few days after that. We can then arrange a meet up somewhere we both know....

Just ignore that previous post.

What, Francowatford's? I thought that was quite funny - I was expecting it from someone!

I think in most cases, it's best not to! The only way is as I have suggested I think. Anything to further the Watford cause across the world. One day we'll be like Man Utd with football academies, etc, in Dubai and China. The opposing supporters will be singing "we support our local team"!.....or am I just getting carried away with the current euphoria?

It's in the middle section of a long article where he is slagging off the management style of Paulo di Canio

Yep, a nasty little rag the Daily Mail, always has been. Can't believe many real football fans read it anyway.
