Watford boss Gianfranco Zola says the great away support at Birmingham City will help his players

Gianfranco Zola says his players will be "buzzing" when they run out in front of at least 2,200 Watford fans at Birmingham on Saturday.
The club have sold out of their advanced allocation off 2,200 ahead of the clash at St Andrew's and another 300 away supporters are also able to 'pay-on-the-day' at the turnstiles.
"When the players find out how many supporters are coming they’ll be buzzing," Zola said.
"The supporters have been fantastic since the beginning of the season. We’ve been growing - as the team have been getting better and better, the crowd has become bigger and bigger.
"It’s a good trend and we appreciate that. When the away end has such a big following it really helps you a lot. I have been a footballer and I know how important supporters are for you."
Birmingham are 16th in the Championship table but are unbeaten in five in the league and have won their last two games at home.
Watford, currently fourth, came unstuck against lowly-placed Bristol City last month and Zola insists his team will not assume anything from the two sides’ league positions.
The Italian said: "To be honest, I don’t trust league positions because I’ve already burned my fingers in a situation like that.
"The nature of the Championship means I know that whilst they are in that position, we will certainly be facing a very good team so we need a great performance."

Now we are at the business end of the season I truly believe the size and quality of our squad will come to the fore with posit over results to follow. Great passing football, the will to win and a great work ethic combined with the flair and strength in depth that Zola has at his disposal will see us at least reach the payoffs, but more probably automatic promotion. In Zola we trust. FORZA HORNETI (My wife speaks fluent Italian and that in apparently how I should say it!!!!)

Can't see us losing this game, but see us conceding a goal. 3-1. Got spat at by the natives last time I went so really looking forward to sending them downwards.

This is because we will be singing one song at one time that can be heard by all, maybe certain sections of the rous could join in too!
I can't see it happening this season but this must be of high priority for next seasons ticket and season ticket distribution! The club must decide on an area or areas of the ground that they want people to make noise and stick to it!
As I've said before, get kids and families in lower rous and middle section of rookery as vocal along with vic road end!

How good to get 2,000 odd Watford fans in The Vic End and a drummer leading it all. We have to make it louder at The Vic it's too quiet. It needs to be a couldren, if nothing will change before next season then lets ramp it up now. Come on boys start tomorrow.
Yes unreserved seating will help increase the atmosphere! if we can get a regular 2,500 vocal fans in one section of the ground sat together then the singing will easily spread!

It seams to me that people make more noise away from The Vic maybe because the feeling is different following your team to other places.. Somewhat more tribal.. Away has & will always be better than home matches.. U feel more loyal & as one with the other Watford fans... Only my view....... Watford 1881 forever

Last point & u may not believe this. Vince o'm was a pretty good Sunday footballer - right winger for the Antlers. Got a few red cards of course, but was a good crosser of the ball!!

Whilst on the subject of away support, I think we should nick Palace's chant. i couldnt get the beat/tune out of my head for days after hearing them sing it all match last Friday, and its very catchy. How about the lyrics below (you need to know the tune/beat before reading/singing otherwise it wont be any good!).

As much as I hate palace I think it's a decent song/chant and it's a long one too so if we can get this going away and at The Vic it would be awesome. There's no swear words so the old fogeys can join in too.

Whenever an away crowd for a team visiting the Vic sings a song unique to their team (not every team has one granted), I always feel a bit gutted that we don't have a song unique to Watford that is sang with such gusto.
I'm sure a few years ago we were more creative with songs, particularly about players we liked - nowadays the default is to just use the "de de de de Aidy Boothroyd" chant but interchange the latest player's name. I think the last creative player song I heard was the Clint Easton one a few years ago, even the players cracked up on first hearing!

I agree, I wish we had an 'anthem' like Leeds, Liverpool, West Ham, Palace. Although To be honest 50% of the teams don't have anything original and just sing different lyrics to the same old tunes, like us.
We need something original which everyone can sing, and it needs to be catchy and simple, like all good chants are.
