GARETH Ainsworth said Dean Morgan is good enough to play in the Championship - and he doesn't want him to change his ways.
Wanderers are the twelfth side the 29-year-old has played for in his career and a show of dissent saw him pick up his sixth booking of the season during the 4-0 win over York City.
But Ainsworth said it's that maddening side of Morgan's personality that makes him such a potent matchwinner for Wanderers, with two emphatically taken penalties by the striker paving the way for a ninth win in 13 matches.
The Blues boss said: "I'm a big believer in the genius/madman syndrome and he's right on the cusp of it. If you try and take the madness away from Dean you lose the genius and that's how I'll work him.
"People like George Best were right on that line. I'm not comparing him to George Best but he's on that line and needs to be on the edge all the time to get the best out of him. He's a hell of a player.
"There isn't another Dean Morgan in this league. There's a lot of managers who've had Dean Morgan - I don't know what it is but I seem to get the best out of him.
"He's a great talent. He's Championship level, the talent that boy's got. He's a maverick for us and can win games."
Power and placement did for York keeper Michael Ingham as Morgan beat him twice from the spot in the first half and Ainsworth said: "Someone said the probability of scoring goes down 50 per cent on the second penalty, or something. I actually said as he ran up, 'smash it down the middle' and he did just that."
