Snow sees Watford head for La Manga for warm-weather training camp

Watford's first team squad will fly out to Spain for a training camp today due to the poor weather conditions in Hertfordshire.

The Hornets' preparations for Saturday's match with Huddersfield were hampered by last week's snow, with Watford unable to train outside at their London Colney base on a few occasions.

The squad will fly out today and spend a few days at La Manga before returning home on Thursday.

This great team deserve a break, I'm down in Marbella and the weather is most definitely not warm.

Top temp around 12 to 13 degrees and bottom temp around 5 to degrees.

Nice - it's a well known training centre for sports. I wish my company would send me out there for a few days training!

More evidence of how the Pozzos are brilliant for the club. Let's hope the weather in Nottingham next Saturday allows the game to go ahead.

As long as it yields 6 points in the next 2 games that otherwise may have not been so - good move.

Well this is the season to rewrite old Hornet history, I remember once before they went away during the cold winter and played like plums when they returned, Still we won when fans cleared the snow this time so onwards and upwards.............
The snow is white but the future is yellow, ( unless the dogs beaten you to it ).

Not sure about this when the hard work has still be done. Might help with tired limbs.I'm for SAS style because when the going gets tough, the tough gets going - who dares wins. Fans expectations are rising with each win.

Excellent news this further emphasizes the professionalism and commitment of the new owners. Even if we were to get beaten at Forest the players will appreciate they our being given every opportunity to produce their best efforts and the rewards will be reciprocated.
Last season we might of got a day out in Bognor , now we our being treated like Top Bananas (one for you Rinaldi).
Hope this weather clears up sharpish and we can get this show on the road again. Well done Pozzos and all involved. COYHs

Was in La Manga last summer..son trained at footy centre. The facilities are stunning, perfect pitches etc. This is the right way to do things. We might not be used to it but this is seriously grown up preparing for success behaviour.
Grazi GFZ and Pozzos.

Yes this is a good move!
It's only a few hours on a plane, warm, safe and in the same time zone!
Better for our players to be there then spending hours in a car trying to get to training on a frozen pitch!

With such a big squad wonder how many we have taken over there ? dont let Murray near any fire extinguishers if hes gone ! and would Troy be allowed ? hope so .

Change of subject. Sorry if I am repeating old posts, but I would like to thank all those who tweeted/twittered/fa
cebooked or whatever on Saturday to the Football League Show asking them to show the build up to the fourth goal. Why on earth they didn't show it during the highlights makes me wonder. If that had been a Barcelona/Real Madrid/Manch Utd/City/Arsenal goal we would be seeing that in the days to come. It's bad enough having to wait until the end of the programme to see the 'Orns but to cut one of the goals of the season shows a complete lack of understanding their viewers. Rant over!

Thats great news, I live 8 miles inland from La Manga, and the weather today has been perfect for training and chilling out. Clear blue skys, light s.w. breeze, temperature in the high 60`s. We have just had lunch out side, don`t mean to make you guys jealous!!
will try to get down to see them train while they are here

As per my previous post, thanks so much to the Pozzos but I still spend too much time worrying about a possible points deduction cos of he who should not be named in polite language screwed us up. Did GT see this coming with non-disclosure to the board of what Baz did with the Danny Graham transfer dosh? All we can do is hope for the best and what we are doing on the pitch.

Gordon Bennett mate ! you need to get on with your life. Just as well you have not gone to La Manga with the boys , I am sure they would love to have you around , you sound like the life and soul of the party !!
We are very unlikely to get a points deduction and even if we did life goes on! and we will get to where we are destined to be in due course. So stop fretting and enjoy the journey.

There is a fantastic indoor pitch at Harefield that the Academy use. I am sure the 1st team could get access to that. Then again, a choice of Harefield or Spain?!

Wow, just got back from La Manga Club, having just watched Watford play a full scale practice match against Shanghi East, who have either just gained promotion to their Premiership, or are very close to doing so. Watford won 3 - 0, with goals from Deeney, Forestieri and Bia. Bia`s goal was a quite beautiful overhead effort. I managed to get nearly all the squads autographs as well, such a nice bunch of lads. Had long chats with Jonathon Bond, Alex Chaimberlain, Lloyd Doyley and a very tall quietly spoken coloured guy with dreadlocks whose name I don`t know. I feel quite extatic at the moment. The match was played in bright sunshine, but a very strong N E wind and was quite even in the first half, but Watford have a bigger squad, and dominated the second. Neither of our goalkeepers had to make a save, though Shanghi did hit the post with a penalty. For me today has been momentous, and something to savour.
