Watford v Huddersfield Town scheduled to go ahead Watford v Huddersfield Town scheduled to go ahead

Watford’s game with Huddersfield Town is scheduled to go ahead today as planned following an inspection at 9am this morning.

The club are now asking for volunteers to help clear snow from the pitch, stands and Occupation Road. They ask supporters to bring their own shovel or broom and enter via the South-West corner.

A statement on Watford's website read: "All relevant parties agreed that, with some extra work to clear snow inside and around the stadium, there are no serious concerns for the safety of supporters travelling to Vicarage Road today.

"Fans of both teams are urged to take care making their way to the stadium, as there will inevitably be icy patches on both roads and pavements.

"If it's possible, please allow extra time for your journey to the match today."

The club added that those who do help clear the snow will be offered "a token of the club's appreciation".

Great news, would have been disappointing if the game was called off on two accounts. Firstly, our team would lose any momentum we currently have going for us. The second issue is more fitness based, if players get the day off when a game is cancelled, there is a real threat of their fitness levels dropping if they do not report for indoor training instead. Unfortunately, living on a steep hill means I won't be able to attend the game but will still be following the game with interest nonetheless.

I think it's games like today where we will see if we are really ready to go up this season. A freezing cold game in front of (what I assume to be) an even smaller and quieter crowd than usual. Throw into the mix that some of our little guys might as well be facing Saracens; we will need to be incredibly sharp and use our movement and speed to get ahead of every 50-50 ball. Really excited!

Just because I don't attend doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. From following the game on the BBC website, I am able to read live updates from an expert, examine data such as possession stats, shot on targets, fouls etc. This gives me an oversight into the game in a way attendees miss out on, who typically get caught up in the action to be able to analyse and evaluate the team's performance rationally. Enjoy freezing your nuts off today mate, I'll be enjoying the game in front of the fire.

That's quite an astute post. After City and Boro away, today will be quite a new experience for our Latin and Latino friends. Be interesting to see how they deal with today's circumstances.

An emphatic win and I will bet my house we get automatic promotion this year.

Fortunately two of our most important players are Czech and the other one is Swiss... they should be used to snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Precisely. You may read a stat as 10 shots on target and think 'wow' but those at the game will know precisely whether they were threats or just weak efforts. There is NO substitute for being there. Ever.

Actually the live updates describe the shots on target, explaining to the reader how threatening the attempt is

No, no no, no...now I know this geezer's winding us up. I LISTEN to every game live on Hornets Player from South Africa and STILL can't get the same feel for the game as the live attendees. Follow it by textbon a web-site ? What a con-merchant !

Reading stats on a website doesn't even come close to being at the game and judging a player or teams performance!
Sorry rookery Phil but you need to get out more instead of sitting at a PC as its obviously affecting your mental state!

Obviously you have no real insight into our team! Sitting at that PC of yours may tell you how many corners we have but it gives absolutely no indication of the game itself!
We won't be direct! We will try to play our passing game and open them up!
Does your PC give you stats on players performances in cold weather?

If your prediction is correct, it will be a very interesting match indeed. If we get a result today whilst maintaining current tactics (employing our usual silky passing football), it will say a lot about our team In particular their adaptability and ability to perform in a myriad of different condition. A real test today boys.
