Late development leading to Matt's injury problems

GROWING pains are the reason behind Matt McClure's groin injury, believes Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth.

Blues' top scorer missed last week's win over Chesterfield with the ailment, which Ainsworth believes is being caused by his body still growing.

He said: "Matt's probably a slightly later developer than the likes of Charles Dunne and Anthony Stewart. His body's just adjusting to this little bit of growth. He's picking up mild things - it's nothing major but you have to keep your eye on it."

Ainsworth added he hopes to have the striker back in contention to face AFC Wimbledon on Saturday: "He's been doing a lot more training this week than last. I'm sure he will be close to being in the squad.

"He's a big player for me. When he's back he's straight back in the squad."
